First off, I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered elsewhere. I read the FAQ and did search the forum before posting, but I suppose that doesn't mean it hasn't been asked before somewhere.

Some information: Windows 7 64 bit, and I usually use Stereo Mix to record sound.

I recently added a Bluetooth adapter (an Asus BT211) to add a wireless speaker set. I spent a good day solid trying to make it work (the Stereo Mix problem is far from being the only problematic issue with Windows sound). Finally everything seemed to work, only now when I try to record with Audacity, no sound is recorded. Nothing at all. Stereo Mix is still listed as an input and still exists in the Windows sound manager, but when I hit record, no sound is being recorded. Odder still, my Bluetooth output is now named "Stereo Mix" in the sound manager.

Please, please if anyone can help with this, it would be very much appreciated. I've lost the better part of two days just trying to make everything work. The speakers were a present from my wife and she's just dying inside, blaming the whole thing on herself.

"Stereo Mix" (when available) works by recording the sound that is playing through the sound card.
That means that you must be using the (same) sound card for both playback and recording.
I presume that when you have used "Stereo Mix" successfully, you were using the on-board sound card for both playback and recording. That should still work. What won't work is recording from Stereo Mix (which uses the on-board sound card) while playing back through Bluetooth speakers because when you try to do that there is no sound playing through the on-board sound card, so nothing to record.
