Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Input Source problem

Post by blackmarquis » Sat Nov 19, 2011 11:20 am

I have installed Audacity 1.3.13 beta on windows 7 (Vaio computer) and I con't seem to configure the input sources properly. I selected Microsoft Sound Mapper but when I record, the input (the song) is not recorded, only a background noise (of microsphone) is recorded. I have tried to update the sound drivers but they are up to date.
Can anybody help? THANK YOU!

If you want to record sounds that are playing on your computer you need to set the Audacity recording input to "Stereo Mix".
If that option is not available you will need to check in the Windows Control Panel to see if your sound card supports Stereo Mix. See here for how to do that: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... _Issues#cp
