Recorded more minutes then cd will hold by 3 minutes. Is there a way to remove this or set program to quit recording after 80 minutes?

It's 78 minutes, not 80. You can drag-select the last three or four minutes of the show and press delete. If the show is important, you can do critical editing where you delete the spaces between words and shorten pauses in the conversation. There isn't much you can do with music.

Audacity 1.3 has a timer tool that will stop after a set amount of time. Transport > Timed Recording.

The 78 minute restriction only applies if you burn a Music CD. If you burn a Data CD, you can put many hours of MP3 music on the disk. Those usually play in computers just fine, but will not play on real CD players and may not play in your car. they won't play in mine. So if you know who your audience is, you might be able to solve this that way.
