can i connect by using the out on my mixer instead of the headphone connection? to my laptop hp pavilion d7
Re: connecting to mixer
If your laptop has a stereo line-in connection then yes you can (suitable lead required) though on some mixers the main output level will need to be substantially less than 0 dB to avoid over-driving the line input.
Some mixing desks have a dedicated "tape out" connection which is suitable for connecting to a line-input on a computer or cassette recorder.
Many laptops only have mono microphone inputs (often low quality and noisy). These are not suitable for connecting to a mixing desk. In these cases it is better to use a USB audio interface (sound card) that has stereo line-level inputs.
