Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Yes, Holmes, and can you not smoke in the house? [cough]

Correct me, but you only need that oboe "A" to tune everything, right? Someone offered to let me use their "tuner" APP to tune up my violin (oddly, I do have one). I haven't taken them up on it yet, mostly because I don't think it's needed. Just poke my A440 tuning fork and hold it against my body. I mean the violin's body.

How's that screen capture coming? I'm becoming more and more eager to see what happens to the timeline during that pop. You can also select the pop area and Save just that one portion as its own project and send that. It doesn't even have to fit on the forum. I'll host it.

So far we have multiple different scenarios that can explain portions of the failure, but nothing that can explain all the symptoms (however improbable). I went straight down the bad computer route when the symptoms were erratic. I'm still treading that route. I don't think there are any Audacity, code errors or settings that can do this without a significant push from a bad computer.

How bad can a computer be to cause this? Is the computer serving "amateur videos" in the background and you inadvertently interrupted it mid stroke, so to speak? Is your activity really ticking off your anti-virus program, so much so that it's shutting down writing to the drive? What's puzzling is the music export appears to proceed the correct length without the music.

"Here's your file!"
"Um. Didn't you forget something?"

Where can we go with that? That drags us kicking and screaming back to the Audacity export code.

Could Audacity be perfectly correctly Exporting what it thinks is your show? Wrap up that tone export Project and post that. It will be stunning if we open your Project and we can't export anything, either.

What is the name you called the tone test show? The exact name? Did the export fail before you saved a Project?

It doesn't even work upside down. If I wanted to produce this error intentionally, how would I do it?

Open a Project that exports with a pop. Export it twice under two different filenames. Same pop in the same place?
