Hi all I am new to this software so this may be a simple problem (user error).
I started a new session yesterday and put down 2 tracks Guitar and then vocals. I am now trying to add additional tracks but there is a delay on any additional tracks I try to record, regardless of the input (mic or instrument) nothing has been changed in any of the settings?
Any thoughts on what could be the cause of this problem?

Re: Delay on tracks added later
There's nobody galloping to your rescue because you have contradicting symptoms. What you have now, that delay, is perfectly normal. What you had then, perfect recording, is not.
If you are indeed using Audacity 1.3, then I can tell you how to get rid of the delay with Audacity Latency tools, but it does bother me that it seems to be changing.
The Cliff Notes version of this process is to lay down a rhythm track such as the built-in click track. Then play that back and either drum along with it, or record the playback back into a second track. Measure the difference between the waveforms and apply that to Audacity Preferences > Recording > Latency.

This is a work in progress I wrote. This will change as I go, but might be helpful.

Re: Delay on tracks added later
Thanks for the reply. Not too sure I understand the first part of the reply. Basically what I am asking is what could have changed between two days when all that I have done is turn off and back on my laptop? The delay was not present when I put down the first tracks, I actually put down three but then deleated one. It is impossible to try to record with almost a 2 second delay.
