Click click click instead of sound recording

Post by m.thirlway » Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:20 pm

I am using a Roadstar TTL/8743 USB turntable. which previouly worked on my old PC. Have connected everything as before (as far as I know), but when I try to record a track, I get a series of very loud continuous clicks instead of the music. Am using XP.

More info - the drodown to select microphone, line in etc is empty, so maybe this is the problem that I cannot/have not set the input to the correct device.

Connect the USB cable before you open Audacity. Allow Windows a few moments to recognise and connect to the device (it should be listed in the "Safely remove hardware icon" list).
When you launch Audacity the USB device should be listed as a recording device.
Set the Playback device as your normal sound card.
