Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

How do I NOT load VST's? (SOLVED)

Post by djminkus » Thu Nov 10, 2011 1:08 pm

I used to not have Fruity Loops. Now I do, along with a bunch of VSTs that came with it. Now I use Audacity for quick utility operations. The problem is that it takes longer to boot up than it used to because it loads all the VSTs that came with FL Studio. How do I tell Audacity to skip loading these? Can I even do that? (I looked through the Preferences window and I couldn't find a way, but I might have missed it.)

*note: I accidentally posted this in the 1.2.x forum before I realized that's the forum I was in. I'm running 1.3.13 beta.

Audacity Preferences > Effects > [ ] Deselect anything you don't want > Restart.

Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.

Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.

Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.

If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.

You can delete a posting if you realize it's in the wrong place. I posted the answer over there.

Audacity Preferences > Effects > [ ] Deselect anything you don't want > Restart Audacity.

I've removed the post from the 1.2.x forum and merged Koz's reply into this topic.

Edit menu > Preferences > Effects.
Deselect the VST option and restart Audacity.
This will stop Audacity from loading any VST effects.
