Low Recording volume

Post by jfd47 » Tue Nov 08, 2011 6:18 pm

I'm trying to record streaming audio, but when I do, the recording volume is really low and the playback is a lot quieter. I can increase the volume to my computer to get an acceptable recording volume, but then the computer volume is too loud. So I'm faced with either listening at a good volume but a low recording volume, or listening at a really loud volume and a good recording volume. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

The "computer volume" where? Do you have speakers or headphones attached to the computer? What sort? Do they have a volume control?

I'm listening through head phones... so no volume control, but that would solve my problem. Any ways, any suggestions on this problem with headphones with no volume control. If not, i'll just have to suck it up and buy some new headphones :p

Why not just take the headphones off and crank up the volume? Or a better solution, get some computer speakers that have a volume control. Even really cheap (less than $5) speakers will do the job.

The reason that the situation occurs is that you are recording the sound that is playing through the sound card, so only when the sound is playing through the sound card loud will you get a loud recording.
