I did a new install of Audacity 1.3 beta, and the last install screen started audacity. The audacity console did not appear, and there was no audacity button in my task-bar. I checked and the processes running include audacity. When I double-clicked the audacity button, a popup screen said audacity was already running. I have an older computer, 2 quad processors @ 2.4 gig, 4 gigs ram, 1.5 terabyte hard drive (I did a little upgrading) and I am running the latest updates to Norton Internet Security 2011, which I turned off for the install. I am running the latest 32 bit Windows 7 updates on SP1.
What do I do to get the console to appear?
console won't start

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: console won't start
A "console" normally means a command-prompt window where you type commands. Audacity is an interface program and has very little support for being run from a command-prompt.jhproofer wrote:I did a new install of Audacity 1.3 beta, and the last install screen started audacity. Have you tried ending the "audacity.exe" process in Task Manager and trying again? Is it possible you had an older version of Audacity still running?
Do you have the latest 1.3.13 Beta from:
http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows ?
If this is still a problem in 1.3.13, then the answer is probably to download the attached "audacity.txt" file, rename it to "audacity.cfg", ensure in Task Manager that Audacity is not running, then paste audacity.cfg into your
Users<your user name>AppDataRoamingAudacity
folder.
