Audacity 1.3.13 Crashes repeatedly

Hello all. I have used Audacity (Beta) for about a year now to record many hours of books for Librivox. Audacity always worked fine on Windows XP but since migrating to windows 7 about 3 months ago, the program crashes, just closes down, about every 2 hours of use. I've become obsessive about saving .aup files every minute or so.
When reloading the program after a crash the recovery program has been mostly successful in offering to recover my work in progress but I just thought it was time to see if this is just me or this is a symptom of W7.
By the way, thanks to the programmers for a fabulous program.

Windows XP but since migrating to windows 7
Explain that and use lots of words. Did you "upgrade" your computer or blow it all away to a blank hard drive and start over? Are you still using the same Audacity install files or bring new ones down from here...

There aren't any messages that specifically address this problem, but there are loads of messages having to do with Win7 drivers and support software for the Sound Device you're using to record your performance.

I purchased a new computer with W7 Home Premium on it. (still have my old XP running on a desk near me).
Downloaded Audacity for the new machine from the Audacity site you showed the link to, using the suggested Audacity 1.3.13 installer. Also the LAME MP3 encoder.
I suspect that the I may have a problem with the AutoHotKey program that I use to combine several editing functions into one key stroke. It may be my imagination but sometimes using the hot keys commands causes the program to blink and hesitate. I have also customized some of the keyboard commands, changing them from the default. This should not cause a problem but who knows, eh?
As for the drivers, will check out the threads you mentioned.
thanks a bunch for your interest,
Phil
