Blue or Black, I do not see any line at 0 db. The only line I see is the one separating the left and right channels. Since I do a lot of fine editing, if I did see such a line it would disturb me too.

Now I always zoom vertically to enlarge the waveform so I can isolate the glitched section better. This is necessary when editing classical which is usually at a lower volume. Maybe by doing a vertical zoom it removes the black line.

@mdubin - well I'm puzzled - not only does my screen show the black line, there are several sreenshots in the 1.3 manual which show the 0 dB datum line (e.g. halfway down this page in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Waveform and on this page: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Zooming )

Can you do the following experiment:
1) record just one second of audio
2) View > Fit Vertically
3) View > Fit in Window

Do you still not see the black datum line at some point in the one sexcond recording?

If not then please post a screenshot of the waveform display.

I do not do any recording nor would I know how to.

I always import either WAV or (lately) FLAC. These were converted outside of audacity from joined MP3 (320) files. There is no loss of audio quality in the joining process.

What I can do is make a screen print of a glitch section before I remove it. Should I save it in a Word Document? How do I attach it here?

Save it as a JPG or a PNG file.
You will then be able to upload to the forum with your reply - look below the message composing box and click on the tab that says "Upload Attachment".

I am very very sorry. That black line at 0db is there but I was never bothered by it or even noticed it.

That was because my mind was locked onto looking at the waveforms to the left and right of the glitched area which was a very small area. This required a large amount of horizontal zooming to fine tune the selection of the glitch so that the left end was exactly where the waveform ended and then right end of the selection was exactly where the waveform began. Then I "cut" the selection and the result was seamless audio with the glitch (burp) gone.

Again, very sorry for putting my foot in my mouth.

You did have me worried for a bit though.

And like you I've never been bothered by it - so I'm a bit surprised it worries the original poster camtechman so much. No-one else gas eever even commented on it as far asI can remember.
