recorded tracks are out of tune with first track recorded

Audacity 1.3.12 beta
Windows XP SP3
1 GB Ram
M audio USB Fast Track
When playing back the second track it is out of tune with the first track.
Any Ideas?

What sample rate are you using? (Edit menu > Preferences > Quality)

Sample rate is 44.1K 16 bit

Try setting up the latency correction as described here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Latency_Test

Repeat the test several times.
Are you able to get repeatable results? When set up correctly the latency correction should be accurate to within a couple of milliseconds throughout the recording.
If you are unable to get consistent results, try changing Audacity's default sample rate to 48 kHz, restart Audacity, then re-run the Latency test.
