I can't find any video tutorials and I couldn't find the answer on these forums.
how do I pan from left to right with a fade in between (a fade to connect the left and right pans)?

Assuming that you have a mono track:
1) Duplicate the track
2) Apply a Fade-in effect to one of the tracks
3) Apply a Fade-out effect to the other track
4) Click on the name of the upper track, and from the drop down menu, select "Make Stereo Track".
If you are starting with a stereo track, the best procedure depends on whether it is a real stereo recording (not just a mono recording on two channels) and whether you want to preserve some stereo separation during the pan.
For more complex panning you can use the same procedure as 1,2,3,4 above, but in step 2 and 3, use the
Envelope Tool rather than the Fade-in/out effects.
