recording skype phone calls

Post by valhallafutures » Sun Sep 25, 2011 9:28 pm

An older set of instructions found on the net for recording skype no longer seem to apply. Problem: insufficient
level of recording volume on the distant party being called, even though it's coming across the Plantronics headset
load and clear. My side extremely loud and clear, but not the other party. Adjusting mic and speakers seems to have no affect on the recording volume of the other party. Using the latest version of Audacity 1.3, not 1.2. Have tried Freecorder. Although it picks up the other party well, it breaks the call down into separate track files for each bit of conversation, and does not record the call continuously. Can see nothing in the few Freecorder settings features to correct this. Any experience out there recording skype with Audacity 1.3?

Audacity has never been very good at recording Skype due to the way that Skype works. I've just posted a reply to another user on the same subject which may be of interest to you: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 16&t=61014
