Hello, I recently had to reinstall my operating system drivers etc ...now audacity does not seem to recognize my hdmi connected devices for playback as before. should I reinstall audacity and try again? suggestions welcome. dan

Reinstalling Audacity won't help unless you are using the wrong version of Audacity (for example, 1.2.6 on Vista or 7). For Vista or 7, please use 1.3.13:

Please tell us what version of Windows you are using including Service Pack (right-click over "My Computer" > Properties). If you had a Service Pack before, have you added it back? Have you reinstalled all drivers for the HDMI devices?
If you still have a problem I would suggest you post screenshots of the Audacity Preferences showing the playback devices that are listed, plus a screenshot of the playback side of the Windows system mixer to establish if Windows is recognising all the devices. You can upload screenshots using "Upload attachment" underneath where you post messages. Then use the feature to place the image "inline" so that it appears directly inside the topic.
