Newbie needs HELP

Hi all,i need loads of help,being an old bugga i dont know the jargon for cutting and editing,so in my language here goes.

I have a CD of a local band playing a gig,but when i play it in the car or at home it plays as one track,
now how do i cut a little bit out of the ends of the tracks,so it will play 1,2,3,4, and so on.
