You'll need to be more descriptive.

How are you recording?
What equipment are you using?
Which version of Windows?
What exactly are you doing?
At what stage are they "not in sync"?

Connected to line-in on pc via headphone socket on electronic keyboard.
Using Windows XP Pro
Playing live music from keyboard to pc thru Audacity to copy to cd
When using the auto-accompaniment function the delay happens when playing the main song

Turn off (de-select) "Software Playthrough" (near the bottom of the Transport menu).

Go to Sounds and Audio Devices in Windows, click "Volume" in "Sound Playback" and try removing the check from the "Mute" box for line-in.

hi Gale, did what you suggested and the mute was already unchecked,I was reading some of the posts on the forum and it was suggested that if a splitter cable was used to plug into my electric keyboard headphone socket it could more or less eliminate the delay problem i am having by using the headphones which are plugged into my pc.Do you think this would work?.

You should not get any delay through headphones attached to the keyboard when listening to your keyboard playing. Some people say that solution degrades the audio sent to the computer so you would have to try it. If your keyboard has a line-out as well as headphones-out, you can connect line-out to the computer instead.

The keyboard is not a playback device for the computer so you will not be able to hear audio playing in Audacity on it. If you want to record new keyboard tracks while playing existing ones in Audacity you should buy a USB audio interface which can function as a playback device for the computer and also let you hear what you are recording with minimal delay.
