Windows 7 - Cannot hear recording

Hi. I am using Window's 7, but when I am recording, or playing back, I can't hear anything.
New user - so please help.

As you are on Windows 7 please use 1.3.13 Beta:

Then in Device Toolbar:

set the output device to the device you have your speakers or headphones connected to.
You can right-click the speaker icon by the system clock > Playback Devices, then right-click over the correct playback device to make it default for your system. You can also right-click over the device > Properties then click the "Levels" tab to make sure the levels are turned up and the device isn't muted.
To hear while you are recording, you also have to click Transport > Software Playthrough in Audacity so that it has a checkmark.
There is a Manual built into 1.3.13 at Help > Manual (in web browser).

OK. You posted to the 1.2 Windows board though, so I now moved it to 1.3.
