Hello,
I'm new to Audacity so I'm not sure how everything is suposed to work. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium with v.1.3 beta..
I ripped one of my classical music CDs to put on my Sansa Clip+ mp3 player. As with many classical compositions, some sections continue without a break from the previous section. For example, there may be no silence between movements in a symphony. I opened the mp3 file in Audacity and selected the section approximately where the first movement ends (no silence between movements). I exported the selection without a problem, then deleted that section. The first selection was 12 minutes and 57 seconds. After deleting it, I assumed the beginning of the second movement would be exactly at the 12:57 mark. I then selected the second movement which ends with silence, and so on. When I play the first two movements in an mp3 player there is a noticeable (but very brief) pause between the first two movements. Why isn't the transition between the two sections perfectly smooth? Should I be doing this differently? Thanks.

Re: Gaps Between Exported Selections Without Silence
One of the limitations of the MP3 format is that there is always a brief period of silence at the beginning of the file. This is not a fault in Audacity, it is a limitation of the MP3 format. Does your MP3 player support any other audio formats? I don't think that Ogg, WMA or AAC have this problem.

Thanks so much for the quick response. In fact, the Sansa Clip+ supports AA, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV and WMA. I'll give it a try.
