Audacity 1.3.13 freezes after recording or importing.

I love audacity, I started using it early June this year and it worked perfectly for what I was doing. I was recording covers of songs. Most of the time I was multitracking and occasionally I would record a cappella and end up having 10-15 tracks. Recently though, after importing an MP3 it crashed when I tried to do a playback. It hasn't worked since. I can record, but I can't play anything back or it will stop working. I've tried re-installing it, to no avail. I've re-installed my audio playback and recording drivers. I've done essentially all I can think of short of re-installing windows. I'm using a Blue "Snowball" USB microphone. Any help would be appreciated.

Sudden, unexplained computer insanity can be caused by your hard drive filling up. Long recordings, particularly complex, multi-track ones take up a huge amount of drive space.

Start > Computer > right-click your system drive > properties.

@koz I have a good 50gb free on my hard driv so I don't think that's the problem. Plus, this is happening on single tracks too.

Check in "Edit menu > Preferences > Directories" and ensure that "Play and/or Record using RAM" is not selected.

All the settings were fine. On a whim, I decided to change the location of the temp folder and that seems to have done the trick. We'll find out as time goes by though.

Out of interest, where was it located, and where have you moved it to?

It was in the audacity section of the appdata folder and I moved it to a folder on my desktop I created called audacity recordings

We're going a little bit off the original question, but I'm interested in how this occurred.... Do you know the full file addresses of the old and new locations? (for example; D:appdatalocaltemp or whatever).
