I recently purchased the Audacity USB Turntable so that I could record my old records, and put them on CD. I have a recording quality question. First, the version that I record from the record is no where near as good (It's terrible). It's just like I have a microphone and I'm standing in front of my television's speaker recording. I can't move around or say anything or my laptop's microphone will pick the noise up. Is that the way it's supposed to be? I have the turntable's audio/video connectors hooked into my VCR, and my television turned to L2 so I can hear the record playing.
Audacity Version: 3.3.13
Computer: HP Compaq Presario CQ60 Laptop with built in speakers/microphone
Windows OS: Windows Home Basic

Re: Question about quality of recordings
It sounds like that because you're recording your laptop microphone instead of the turntable.
