Input selection

Hi,

This question is probably asked many times, but I can't find the proper answer for my problem, sorry for that!
After installing Audacity 1.3.13 on my new Window 7 machine, I experience some difficulties recording streaming radio.

Looks like I'm missing the right selector to do this.
I have the following selection possibilities:

MME - Speakers (Realtek High) - Stereo Mix (Realtek High) - 2 (Stereo input)
Windows direct - Microsoft - Microphone - 1 mono
(note that I had to activate Stereo mix myself)

Whatever I try, it only records surrounding noises in stead of music played on a website.
Who can help me out a bit?

Windows versions make this much more difficult as they progress. The latest Win7 system has separate selectors for communications services and regular sound services. It's possible to have Stereo Mix selected and still not have a good recording.

Thanks Kozikowski for your reply on my question.
In the meanwhile I've tried the option you pointed at.
Unfortunately nothing seems to work.
It is to my believe that Windows 7 machines are no longer equiped with tools to record sounds from websites.
This probably has to do with royalties.

At this point I'm quiting with this whole situation.
I leave it this way.
I don't want to mess up my brand new system by installing different sorts of dll's, that what harmed my previous system.

If you are able to listen to the radio using WinAmp (a very good, free media player for windows), then it has a "disk writer" plug-in that allows WinAmp to direct the audio stream directly to the hard drive rather than to the sound card, thus creating an audio file. This does not require your sound card to have a Stereo Mix option, it works for anything that WinAmp can play.
