multi track noise or hiss problem
Have played with the noise removal effect, it seems when i add bass boost,or increase volume on any track, it adds hiss. What freq. should i set noise removal at. to reduce this. Acoustic guitar and vocals thru a good mike. Many Traks. Widow 7, beta 1.3

Re: multi track noise or hiss problem
Increasing the volume of a track will increase the volume of all sounds on the track, whether it's the sound of a voice, an instrument, next doors TV, or background hiss.suttlemyre wrote: it seems when i add bass boost,or increase volume on any track, it adds hiss.
Bass boost should not add any hiss.
If you increase the volume, or just increase the bass too much, then it may cause distortion that sounds like noise on the loud bits.
Is this with a project that has just one audio track, or do you have multiple audio tracks playing simultaneously?
When you press play, watch the playback meter. How high does it go? It should not go up as far as 0 dB. If it does, there will be a small red warning indicator at the right hand end of the scale, as illustrated here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Mete ... #annotated
