That's right.
The optimum amount to amplify the left track is 0 (that is, no amplification - leave it exactly as it is). Not more, not less. The vocal is dead centre which is exactly where you want it. This little bit of vocal that is left after the Vocal Removal effect is due to the "stereo effects" that Koz was talking about and there's really nothing you can do about that.
