Warped guitar sounds when recording distorted.

Post by TheUberRhys » Wed Aug 31, 2011 12:51 am

Hi, i'm currently recording tracks with my band using Audacity, whenever recording distorted guitar after the first few seconds the sound becomes warped and distorted. It sounds as if someone has boosted the treble and put some kind of strange chorus effect on top of it. I am recording by plugging my guitar into a Vox Vt30+ and connecting the Aux on the amp to the Line In on my laptop. We record clean guitar and bass the same way and have had no trouble. Is there anything I can do to stop the sound becoming so warped? :?
