FYI -

For what it's worth, I'm going to repeat some advice I received on this forum a few weeks ago (I do speech recording, and have struggled with sound levels for months).

There's a free software product called the Levelator (http://www.conversationsnetwork.org/levelator) that has been a miracle worker for me. You might want to give it a try.
