Oh but my lame_enc.dll is the latest, infact ive even tried the unstable beta, so why wont Audacity let me use it? I try to export to mp3, I get told to locate lame_enc.dll. So I select lame_enc.dll from a folder and it tells me the version is not compatible, please download latest. So I do that and it errors out. This is on 1.3.13-beta (Unicode). The previous version 1.2.6 works fine with lame_enc.dll. I dont want to go back to 1.2.6 just to use lame. So for now im exporting to wav's then running a batch script to execute lame.exe and encode the wavs, but would be nice to have the lame mp3 bug fixed

You can't use arbitrary copies of lame_enc.dll with 1.3.Beta - the .dll has to be obtained from us. This is done so as to improve the metadata and file information support in exported MP3s.

Please download LAME by following the instructions here.

If the dll from those instructions is not recognised by Audacity, try these instead:

• lame_enc.dll 3.98.4 from:
  http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=2998
• lame_enc.dll (3.98.2) without manifest:
  http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/lame_enc_no_manifest.zip

However if you install LAME as directed on http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ: ... g-Ins#lame, then even if File > Export > MP3 does not recognise lame_enc.dll, you can use the included lame.exe to export MP3s from Audacity using Audacity's command line exporter.
