audacity not recording my voice

I open audacity and push the record button but it does not record my voice. I have checked my recording device and the computer says it is working and it is the selected recording device.

We love first person accounts. I spoke into my Logitech Desktop USB microphone connected to my Compaq Presidia laptop running Audacity 1.3.12 under Windows XP-SP3.
