browsing the forum for "conexant" issues, there still seems to be no possibility for line-recording with conexant chips?
if this is a copyright issue, why is it possible with realtek chips?
is getting a sound card the only way out? (tried connecting speaker out to mike in -> not an option!)

Re: conexant
I'm not familiar with that issue, but are you using a laptop with no line-input connector?
Are you trying to record from a line-level source, or are you trying to record "what you hear" from the speakers?
If you have a laptop and you get an external USB soundcard, be aware that most USB soundcards don't have line-in either. The Behringer UCA202 is probably the most economical way to get line-in on a laptop.
If you want to record "what you hear", there are a couple of software solutions. I think Total Recorder can do it with a "virtual driver".

No, it's not a copyright issue. There are lots of rumors & speculation, but it's apparently just a marketing/cost decision. I guess most computer users don't need this feature.if this is a copyright issue, why is it possible with realtek chips?
Re: conexant
yes, laptop, trying to record what i hear (streaming), but conexant only records what the mike hears... same with total recorder, which btw is not freeware... this forum is full of such complaints...
this issue actually concerns my son's HP laptop - i have a fujitsu-siemens laptop with a realtek chip and have no prob with audacity...
thanks anyway...
