I am on Windows XP Service Pack 3 on a Compaq Presario pc and have a Zennox USB Turntable and I want to record LPs onto my computer. The software Audacity 1.2.6 came with the turntable and I have downloaded the 1.3 Beta version from the Audacity website. I have searched through many forums/websites and adjusted sound settings both on preferences on Audacity and on my pc etc but I either don't get any sound playing through my computer when playing a record on the turnable or I get a loud buzzing noise, therefore it's either not recording any sound or just recording the buzzing noise. Can you advise me on the settings I should have to make it work or will it not work with the equipment/pc I have? Thanks.

Is there any settings with which you can record successfully even if you can't hear it during recording?

You should select the USB device as the recording device in Preferences -> Devices -> Recording Device

You should connect the turntable to the usb port and turn it on before running audacity, so that it's properly detected and available from the device list.

To listen to it while recording you might need to enable "Software Playthrough" from the Transport menu.

Have a look at this set of tutorials in the 1.3 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tuto ... iscs_to_CD

Especially this one: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Reco ... turntables
