Excuse my ignorance

I've heard good things about this software. As a novice producer (wanabe), I would very much like to try it out, but keep getting a message that the publisher cannot be verified when I try to download. I know I can download anyway, but frankly I'm not comfortable with it based on what I've read at the Microsoft site. Am I justified or just paranoid?

D :?

You should not download or install anything from unknown/untrusted sources, and even then it is wise to virus check them before installing.

You can download Audacity safely from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ (the official Audacity site).

If you are using Windows Vista, read this first: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... s_Vista_OS

Maybe the problem was that I was trying to run the program instead of saving it first. Again, excuse my ignorance. Thanks for the help.

PEACE :D

NO, you just bypassed the warning, which is still applicable.

If you downloaded from the above link and trust the Audacity Team, run the .exe file.
If you do not trust, do not run the .exe file whether you get warning or not.

Because: If you run it and can do anything including 1. reading your bank access codes when you write them 2. deleting all files 3. recording sounds from computer surroundigs 4. anything else that can be done by computer and its peripherals.

I understood the program is claimed to do 3. at my will but nothing bad.
I trusted, and I run.

This is like that with every program and every plugin that you install and/or run.
