edit voice recording

Post by gethappy68 » Mon Aug 08, 2011 5:02 am

I would like to improve the .wav file of a speech I gave. Instead of recording directly from my mic, the recording was made somewhere in the audience, so my voice recording is not ideal for podcasting. So far I have run noice reduction and then I had to amplify. Next I read about improving muffled sound and increased the right side of the equalizer. If you have other suggestions I would appreciate hearing. Thank you.

All you can do it make it less awful. You may have already hit the usual tools.

You can't get rid of echoes and audience noises, so they're fixed. Many times the echoes are what's making the performance seem muffled. No doubt you already found that boosting the right side of the equalizer also makes the performance hissy and noisy.

You can sit in Roman amphitheaters and clearly hear what's going on sixty feet away because of the good acoustics and no echoes. Most conference rooms are designed to look good and they usually succeed.

The usual response when people have trouble hearing is to add amplifiers and microphones.

This is the exact same problem people have when they try to record their favorite band from the audience, except you don't have crusher sound and the overload problem.
