Truncated Recordings

Post by sfshr9 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 1:19 pm

I just recorded exactly 10 hours from Spotify. Recording never stopped. File saved as .wav was about 6GB, but is only about 4 hours long. Can anyone tell me why/how to avoid problem in future? Thanks.

The WAV format is limited to files that are less than 4 GB, because of its use of a 32-bit unsigned integer to record the file size header (some programs limit the file size to 2–4 GB). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAV#Limitations
If you still have the Audacity Project, you can select sections of the recording and Export each section using "File > Export Selection", or you could create a label track and use "Export Multiple" (see here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Split ... ate_tracks )
