How do I uncompress audio file?

How do I uncompress audio file?

I just installed Audacity and when I open an audio file on my computer that I need to transcribe it zooms through in less than 2 seconds even though the recording is actually about an hour long. I am new to this and cannot figure out how to fix this so that I can listen to the file. Someone please help me.

Audacity cannot understand the file.

Make sure you have latest Audacity 1.3.13 Beta:

Then download and install the optional FFmpeg library which can import a much wider range of formats. You can read how in these two links:
