Not able to record

I have spent the last 6 hours trying to record with audacity. I have read countless forums and wiki pages, but to no avail. I am new to posting anything on forum so I don't even no if this is the right place. However, I need some assitance please. I want to use my computers built in microphone. When I push record the line is quite flat, after boosting up the amplification and the microphone when I push play after recording i just here a bunch of noice (sounds like a walkie talkie noise) however, my voice--even when yelling :) is completly undetectable. Now I used audacity a couple years ago when I had vista, but when I upgraded to windows 7 and consequently lost the audacity program. I simply reinstalled it, but now I can't get it to work. The following info may be useful.

Using:
Audacity 3.3.13 beta version
windows 7
I have done the following:
Configured the sounds on my computer like I read on wiki page.
tried every possible configuration with devices found in preferences.
I did the amplification effect.
I increased the sound of my microphone.
what can i possibly do now? Thanks for for your help!

In Audacity, click Help > Audio Device Info. Click in the list, CTRL + A to select all, then CTRL + C to copy, then paste into your reply.

In the "Recording" tab of "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel, hold ALT then press PrtScr. Save the image as a PNG (not a BMP) then attach it to your reply (use the "Upload attachment" tab underneath the message "Preview/Submit" buttons).

Hi all

Similar problem. I just installed 1.3 on my new computer. Windows 7 prof; motherboard: Asus P8P67 LE rev. 3.0; sound: Realtek high definition audio; driver: 6.0.1.6251 (even higher number than latest driver on Asus site).
No problem with playing existing audio file with Audacity, but recording (for instance from Windows Media player) is not possible. No detection of audio signal.
Any help appreciated.

Hi pikoger,
You are currently set up to record from your webcam microphone.
Have a look here to see if it is possible to enable "Stereo Mix" recording: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel

Problem solved. Thanks a lot. piko
The solution was:

It is common on Vista and 7 that not all recording inputs are automatically enabled in the Recording tab. This means they are invisible in that tab, and also invisible to recording applications like Audacity. So you need to make them visible, then enable and make default the one you want to use, thus:
