Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Upon choosing to RUN file it says "Publisher Unknown"

Post by DiversifiedWoman » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:12 am

Hi everyone. :)

I am trying to install Audacity on my computer. I had it on an older XP and had no issues but in trying to install the BETA Version 1.3.13 for Windows 7 after saving it to my desktop it gives me this dialogue:

Publisher: Unknown Publisher
Then below that it reads:
This file does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher. You should only run softward from publishers you trust

Again this may be nothing and honestly I don't remember the last time I did install this if the same message popped up or not. But it did concern me nonetheless.

I went to download it from this page:
http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Audacity Zip files and Nightly Builds
•Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7: Audacity 1.3.13 zip file (7.6 MB)

I am currently running a Windows 7- 64 bit Dell computer

Is there anything I need to know for this particular setup in the process that I should be aware of?
In conjuction with this I already have hooked up a Sampson CO1U USB Studio Condenser Microphone.

My Sound Card is a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Ready (S/PDIF)

For the most part I will be using it to create podcasts and also to edit MP3 or wav music files.

Thanks for your help in advance!

With this yet being the BETA Version and not knowing when Audacity will get past that point, just wanted to be sure of the right steps.
