lining up tracks

I'm a Newbie so my apologies if the question has been asked, etc

I often have to shorten pieces of music for Dance routines. I select the part I want to keep and move it to a new Track. Then find the next part to keep and move it to another track. Is there a way to line up my tracks? i.e. when I drop a new section into a new track, is there a way to line it up under the first one one so that I can play them together and see how they will sound before making final changes?
