I used to be able to record songs, save them in mp3 format, convert the file to wav format (under XP Pro OS), and then open the .wav file in another program. Now, under Windows 7, I can record, but can't open/play any new files I save in .wav format. However, I can still open/play the old .wav files I recorded/saved under XP Pro. If that does not help, you probably have some codec conflict. If you have installed some codec pack, consider uninstalling it. Codec packs can create conflicts with different codecs being available for the same file types. See:

You can also download Media Info to see if you can spot some difference between the WAVs produced on XP and those produced on Win 7.
