Hi,
I think I've mistakenly deleted the DATA folder for the song I've been working on. Although I've got the actual Audacity .aup file of the song, when I click on it, it says it can't find the data file. Do you know if there is anything I can do??

Alternatively, I have another version of the same song (an older version of it but would still be useful) - but with this one, I have the DATA folder but not the main Audacity .aup file of it. In the Data file, it contains all the tracks as separate files. Is there a way to put them all together into one file?

Search your computer for any folders called _data to see if you can find it. Search the Windows Recycle Bin if you haven't already.

If really deleted and not in the Recycle Bin you can try Pandora Recovery or Recuva. Recovery will only be perfect if none of the folder has been overwritten. Recover to another drive than the one the _data folder was on.

The 1.3 .au files are randomly named. So you have to sort all the .au files into time stamp order then rename them while so sorted into a consistent alphanumeric sequence of files. It will not give perfect results for a stereo file and if you had been editing the file it will not recreate the project correctly. If you still want to try it, see:
