Whenever I try to play back a recording, I encounter the following problem; Pressing pause acts the same as pressing stop, the playback restarts from the start of the file. PLEASE HELP, this is driving me crazy and I can't find the answer anywhere online. I'm dealing with files multiple hours in length and scanning through the entire timeline to find my place every time I pause is a major set-back.
I have used Audacity before on other (non-windows 7) computers before, and never encountered these problems.

Re: Pause Functions the Same as Stop
Does it do that with both the "P" shortcut key and clicking on the pause icon?
You are completely sure you're using Audacity 1.3.? Which version exactly?
Just to cover the bases, you've restarted your computer? Try downloading and mounting this short (6 sec) sound file. Does that work?

Go into Audacity Preferences > Interface and make sure Clean Speech is not selected. If you have to change it, restart Audacity.
