I'm new to audio/video processing so this may sound simple to some of you. I have a video in wmv format that has a lot of background audio noise (hiss or hum.) I was able to extract the sound track using 1.3.x beta plus the ffmpeg add-on, and adjust the sound to an acceptable level. Now I don't know how to get the sound file attached back to the original wmv file. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Typically, this would be done with a video editor. Personally, I use Corel Video Studio ($100 USD) and Womble ($100).

But if you don't have a video editor, you might be able to do it with Windows Movie Maker (FREE!!!!) or avidemux (FREE!!!). (I don't use either of these programs, so I'm only assuming they can do it...)

Or, you might be able to do it with FFMPEG or AviSynth, but you'd probably have to find the right a command line.

Or, you may be able to do it with a multiplexer, such as Muxman (FREE - $35 USD). (The audio & video in an A/V file are "multiplexed" together along with any optional audio tracks and subtitles, etc.)

I've used avidemux a couple of times for the precise purpose of putting a cleaned up soundtrack back with a video file. I'm not very familiar with that program, but I muddled through and it worked perfectly. The biggest problem when dealing with video is often the multitude of formats and codecs, so you may need a bit of trial and error to get the right combination of software to perform the job. Your question is really a video editing question rather than an Audacity question, so you may find more information and expertise on a video editing web forum.
