Hi there
I recently downloaded audacity as currently my only software for recording audio is through cubase and I wanted something quick and simple. I am using an ALesis Master Control Firewaire audio input device.
I have been unable to select the correct audio input from the drop down menu, the only option I have is for my mic input on my Master Control which is not the right one. I have tried to record the audio anyway but with no effect, there is also no option for changing the input in the device tab of audacitys preferences. I checked on the Wiki and there were suggestions to check the sound control panel for Windows for hidden devices but the only one that will show up is the mis input.
The audio I want to record is coming in fine, I just cant seem to get it through Audacity.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Liam

Re: Can't select correct audio input (Alesis Master Control)
What version of Windows? What three-digit version number of Audacity (see Help > About Audacity)?
Whatever version of Audacity, you must be able to select the Firewire Device itself in Devices Preferences. It sounds as If you can do that, but if it is not there or not showing correctly, exit Audacity and restart, or if you have 1.3.13, click Transport > Rescan Audio Devices.
Have you read the Manual for the Firewire device, and obtained the correct drivers for your version of Windows? You can do that here - click the link that says "Docs and Downloads".
What input do you have plugged into the device, and which output are you sending to the computer?
