Yes, that FAQ entry solved the issue. Stupid me...
I also switched to using the LINE IN jack instead of the MIC jack.
(Although this doesn't seem to make any big difference)
Thanks Gale!

Re: Quality and volume degrade after a few seconds of record
If you have this:
http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=234
it says the output is "line/headphone dual-purpose output (stereo phone jack)". So while it may be sufficiently tolerant to take a little amplification, theoretically line-in would be the better place to plug it in to my view.

Yea, I changed it to LINE IN.
Thanks for the help.
Gale, what is your role in the Audacity project?

No, I'm not actually a programmer, I do some support and documentation but mostly decide on Quality Assurance, stuck in the middle between the users on one "side" and the developers who write the code on the "other side".

Re: Quality and volume degrade after a few seconds of record
I have had days of problems with deteriorating sound quality every time I try to record a Midi File or MP3. I read your posts and "bingo", all fixed. I went to 'sound in the control panel...speakers...properties...enhancement tab....and ticked box "disable enhancements'..all fixed. thank you to the members of this forum, much appreciated.
