XENYX X2442USB
Our band just bought a Behringer XENYX X2442USB and we want to record ourselves with the USB output. I loaded the included Audacity and the 64 bit driver for Windows 7 in my laptop. In preferences, I selected the XENYX X2442USB as the input and output. I can play music from the computer back through the mixer but we don't get any input to record from the mixer. I can't find any information about this and am wondering if there is a setting on the mixer or what I am missing. Thanks for any advice.
Re: XENYX X2442USB
Which Audacity version do you got? Check in the Help menu -> About.
Bundled Audacity versions are most likely quite outdated...
The recommended version for Windows 7 is 1.3.13. You can get it from: http://audacityteam.org/download/

It's 1.2.6. I'll get on to downloading that tomorrow. I feel like I'm just missing something simple.

Yes, you're missing Audacity 1.3.13vaughanraymond wrote:It's 1.2.6. I'll get on to downloading that tomorrow. I feel like I'm just missing something simple.
Audacity 1.2.6 is old and no longer in development. It doesn't work well in recent OS such as Windows 7, so it's no surprise it's not working for you. You really should get 1.3.13.

Re: XENYX X2442USB
I have installed the new software and still get nothing when I hit the record button. Audacity shows my mixer as the input device. I don't see anything in the Beringer manual addressing the usbout.
Re: XENYX X2442USB
Does it come with any software to ajust the input level of the mixer? I'm not a windows user so I'm not the best person to give you advice regarding windows configurations...
I'm moving this thread to the windows forum, lets wait for one of the windows elves to pop in.

Go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Interface" and set the "Meter/waveform dB range" to -96.
When you try to record, is there any indication at all on the Audacity recording meter?

Re: XENYX X2442USB
Thanks, I will try that but I have to go now for two weeks.
Re: XENYX X2442USB
I seem to have the same problem as Vaughanraymond. Instead of the sound from the mixer going to the usb port into the computer, it is like the sound from the computer is going out from the computer to the mixer and then playing through the pa speakers. The thing that seems to contradict that, however, is that when we play something through the mixer, the red bars at the top representing input sound recognizes sound coming through, but the actual audio track that shows the recording does not show sound and continues to show a straight thin line. Any suggestions?
I do have the newest Audacity btw.

Re: XENYX X2442USB
I suspect that it is working correctly but that your recording level is way too low.Zhazzard wrote: when we play something through the mixer, the red bars at the top representing input sound recognizes sound coming through, but the actual audio track that shows the recording does not show sound and continues to show a straight thin line. To confirm if this is the case, make a test recording, then apply the Amplify effect to the recorded track.
