Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Did you do the recording after 11:03 hours, if so is the project still open? There are no write or other errors in the log that are pertinent.

I think the actual project you recorded into (.aup and _data folder) would be much more useful so we can match the .au files with the timeline. If you don't have that, then to listen to the audio you saved as a compressed project we would need the "Skyline Motorsports_data" folder (or the ogg file therefrom). If it's more than 1 MB after zipping, please upload it to a free file transfer service like:
http://www.yousendit.com
http://www.megaupload.com
http://www.sendspace.com

and give us the web address where we can download it.

Also please consider using the Nightly Build as requested:
http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/audacity- ... -alpha.zip

This will give us more clues if read or write errors are involved.

As for the corrections to formatting of your posts, we aren't pedants but if you post a message that is just one long embedded quote it really is very time consuming to wade through it and figure out where your replies are. If it's easier, something like you did once before is OK:

I already have.

I have downloaded and will begin using 1.3.14.

If another glitch occurs I will send the AU folder and the data folder for that project via YouSend It

To whom do I address it?

It really doesn't matter as long as you post the link to the file here. If you like you can give our feedback address as the address:

I have another glitch and I can send both the Audacity project file and the data file but YouSendit requires a valid email address to send. Can you provide that please?

Thanks!

We now have three very different Logs from you; comparing them is interesting (but to me does not expose the fundamental problem as reported).

Since this thread has gotten so long, I am going to reiterate; you seem to have two distinct (but conceptually related) problems: (1) "skips" in recording (regions of silence which should contain audio) which survive into an exported audio file (MP3), and (2) "skips" which are transient -- which may disappear when playing the Project or when exporting audio.

This most recent Log seems to be related to symptom (1) above.
(a) Error: Couldn't find symbol 'MainPanelFunc'
this is an obsolete line in the code and does not reflect an error condition

(b) Error: Failed to load shared library 'avformat-52.dll' (error 126: the specified module could not be found.)
though
Error: Failed to find compatible FFmpeg libraries.
are also not really errors but do indicate that you have not installed the optional FFmpeg library (something you might find useful but not related to your problem).

(c) the repeated:
12:17:32: Attempting to load LAME from previously defined path
12:17:32: Loading LAME from C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll
12:17:32: Actual LAME path C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll
12:17:32: LAME library successfully loaded
12:47:21: Attempting to load LAME from previously defined path
12:47:21: Loading LAME from C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll
12:47:21: Actual LAME path C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll
12:47:21: LAME library successfully loaded
12:51:55: Attempting to load LAME from previously defined path
12:51:55: Loading LAME from C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll
12:51:55: Actual LAME path C:Program FilesLame for Audacitylame_enc.dll
12:51:55: LAME library successfully loaded

is (in my less than knowledgeable belief) not normal. AFAIK, Lame has nothing to do with recording but there is some slight possibility that looking at the Logged times that these entries were made might line up with the "skips", since we have no easy way to determine when the "skips" occured, only you might be able to say if they coincide with "skips".

I am still breathlessly awaiting a look at a Log from problem (2)! I really believe that the recording "skips" (as problem (1)) are likely hardware related but the problem (2) "skips" might be related to bug137.

P>S> could you post an image of your Libraries Preferences? It will look something like:

I sent a zipped copy of the project with the repeatable glitch.

Thanks. Nothing has turned up at the feedback address, so I don't know where you sent it. I've sent you a Private Message about this, but as I explained what we need is for you to post the web address here of the zip file you uploaded to YouSendIt. Then anyone who has an interest in this can download it.
rj7500 wrote:Attached is the Preferences Libraries
Thanks, but it doesn't shed any light on anything related to the subject problem. The messages about LAME (which is an MP3 encoder and nothing whatsoever to do with recording) are expected. Audacity loads LAME whenever you open preferences or export an MP3. I assume the messages to be from one of those events.

Thanks for trying to help. Did increasing "audio to buffer" in the Audacity Recording Preferences prevent skips? What is your current setting?
