Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Export trouble

Post by sehguh » Sat May 28, 2011 3:51 pm

I use Audacity every now and then to mess with bits of music, today I made a little song with a bunch of samples and stuff.... I click export like I normally would, it exports fine Mp3, when I open it in a player (itunes, windows, vlc) there is just 3 minutes of nothing (the track is 3 minutes long) any help? thanks

Try importing the MP3 back into Audacity - does it play correctly in Audacity?

If you create a new project, is the problem repeatable?
Which version of Windows are you using?
Which version of Audacity? (Look in "Help menu > About Audacity")

Sometimes it exports just blank high frequencies, and a few times it has exported 3/4 of the song... with the same setting as the first export. Is there certain export setting I should be using?

I'm not sure what you mean by "blank high frequencies". Could you make a short (less than 1 MB) sample of what you mean and post it to the forum (see "Upload Attachment" below the message composing box).

I'll move this to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum.

the frequency when I export, just that... nothing else. Sometimes I get that, sometimes I get like 3/4 of my song with the other 1/4 the high frequency

Immediately before exporting, look in the bottom left corner of the Audacity window - what does it say for "Project Rate"?
On the left end of the audio track it will say something like "stereo 44100Hz 32-bit float". What does yours say?
In "Edit menu > Preferences > Quality" what settings do you have?
