no change, i tried it on 2 seperate pcs, even a small aup file takes a while to load and the mixer board remains the same.

Thanks for testing. Is the other machine also on Win 7 SP1 or something else?

Can you quantify how many tracks you need to have open before using the sliders on Mixer Board cause slowups? Do you get the same problem if you use the sliders to left of the blue waveforms with Mixer Board open? Do you get the same problem if you use the sliders to left of the blue waveforms with Mixer Board closed? I know that defeats the purpose of Mixer Board but it would help us to know if the problem is only with the Mixer Board sliders.

On the different issue of merging the black split lines, how many split lines do you have to click on in quick succession before Audacity slows up? It may be more convenient to select over a number of the split lines and CTL + J (or Edit > Join).

both laptops were win7 fully updated.
so far a handful or tracks or more, doesnt mater to the mixer board, as soon as you move them, they stop (the meters showing the levels while playing, stops) and when i release it it continues to flow with the volume of the track. i have to let go right away or risk freeze.
the vol. sliders not on the mixer link, the ones off to the left, never freeze.
as far as the black editing lines, it usualy takes about a handful of more of them deleted before a freeze would aoccur,
also if i decide i want to do like several seperate tracks all on one sitting, i cannot it will say there is not enough memory to save, even though there is.
so typically i only do about 2 or 3 new tracks, then save it and reopen and continue. lucky i have the time for restore setting a little higher than normal in mins, and i can restore most all freezes and such and get back the newly recorded tracks i lost.

Have you got an image of that error message, and is then when exporting WAV or when saving a project?

Look in the Directories Preferences if you have "Audio Cache" checked - I suggest you turn it off if not.

audio cache is not checked. to the best of my knowledge when it will not save, is typically when trying to save the project in aup. file, when exporting as mp3 or wav i do not recall any problems.

Thanks. I'd appreciate an image of the message for not being able to save the project next time it happens (ALT + PrtScr will capture the warning on its own, then you can paste into Paint and save as PNG, and attach the image underneath where you type your replies). I think most of these "cannot save project" messages do not indicate disk full (or memory full if that happens) and could indicate the project is about to corrupt itself should Audacity not abort the save properly.

Also please let us know if you see errors about not being able to save the "autosave" file. This is Audacity's temporary .aup file which records any unsaved changes.
