Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

can only export to desktop or C: drive (not subfolders)

Post by justinrpg » Thu May 19, 2011 9:26 pm

Audacity will no longer allow me to save in any folder but the desktop or the main C: drive folder, no where else... if i click on ANY folder to go to it to save there Audacity will lag for about 15 seconds then display back to the main C: or desktop and show that there is no wav files there, even though both the desktop and C: drive folders do contain wav files as well as the folder i clicked on also has wav files for example, I want to save to C:/wavs1/ or C:/wavs2/ as well as desktop folder named "for song" if i click on any of those the audacity lag occurs then back to main folder with no wav there although there is wavs there... no other program has this problem but audacity, and has been occurring for over a week now

Do you like to put dates in your filenames? I wouldn't do that. 20110519. That's today's date, not 5/19/11.

The slashmarks might screw up Windows file structure.

When was the last time you restarted your machine from power off -- pull the plug?

Sudden Computer Insanity can also be cause by your hard drive filling up. How big and how full?

Missed one. Which Audacity exactly do you have?

Update your Audacity, look here:

If you are running Windows 7 you are probably experiencing a known issue with the file system which has been fixed in later Audacity versions.
