Export older ID3 tags from audacity?

Hiya,
I work for a community radio station and we are using audacity to edit our shows. However, the playout software we use (Simian) doesn't recognise mp3s with the ID3.24 version of the ID3 tag which lame encoder seems to default to. We need to be able to export the tags as the older ID3.23 for it to work. At the moment we are using a workaround of exporting with no tags at all and this is ok, but it would be good to be able to label the mp3 on export.

Is there any way you can set audacity up to export mp3s using an ID3.23 tag?

Thanks in advance
Steve

Not that I know of, but apparently (I've not actually tried this myself) you can use Foobar2000 to convert (rewrite) ID3 tags.
In Foobar2000 you will need to set "ID3v2 Writer Compatibility Mode" (under Preferences... Advanced). http://www.foobar2000.org/

I think that "mp3tag" should also be able to change the ID3 tag version. http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

Assuming that one of these methods works correctly, you should be able to batch process your entire audio library if that's what you want.

Thanks for your help Steve.

I already found the mp3tag program, but thank you anyway. It was how I was able to figure out why simian wasn't playing the files in the first place.

I know I posted the question in the windows forum, but its a cross platform issue, and we recently switched over to Ubuntu studio. Do you know of any program for Linux which will convert the tags like foobar2000 or mp3tag?

Cheers
Steve

Possibly "EasyTag"
